***I went a little over seven images this month. Please forgive my indecisiveness!***
Whenever possible we spend summer Sunday mornings at our neighborhood pool. It's something we started doing before the kids were even born. Unlike every other day of the week, It's usually not very busy and sometimes we get the whole place to ourselves, which makes for some awesome family time. The kids are both learning to swim, a milestone that I have really wanted to document, so I invested in some underwater gear to do just that. I'll admit, I underestimated the difficultly involved in underwater photography. I really had it in my head that I was so awesome that I could get in the water with my new stuff and shoot just like with my big ole camera and make really amazing pictures from the get-go. Yeah, I was super duper wrong, I am definitely NOT that awesome! The way the light travels under the surface is completely different than above it, the colors...ugh don't even get me started on white balance, and shooting through the muck of a heavily used pool...well, I'll just say it's pretty darn frustrating. Even with the challenges, I'm so happy I took the leap. I'm finally, after about a month of practicing, starting to get the hang of it, and the kids think it's pretty neat that I can take my camera in the pool. Best of all, we have some pretty cool images to remind us years from now of our summer Sunday family tradition.
